I do find it interesting, though, that Annie Higgins, the
daughter of John Higgins the roofer, was born at 387 First St. in 1867 [1].
In 1869, 387 First is the house address for one Edward Welch,
who was likely my gg grandfather’s business and roofing partner, at least in
1885:
“Welch
Edward (Higgins & Welch), 378 W. First, h. 387 do.” [2]
In the same directory, the entry for my gg grandfather
reads:
Higgins Edward (Higgins & Welch), 378 West First, h. 23
Lark” [3]
The same directory also lists Higgins & Welch in the
business directory under “Roofers” [4].
Even more interesting is the fact that Welch was my gg
grandfather Edward’s mother’s maiden name:
Mary Welch [5].
So now I’m even more curious about “John Higgins the Roofer
at Farrell Place.”
